Project 3: Unique Environments:

Based on 99 rooms

You are going to be creating an interactive environment in Flash.  The subject matter, conceptual development and aesthetic is entirely up to you. Your final work must have at least 1 of each of the following:

  • Video
  • Animation
  • Sound
  • Interactivity
  • buttons
  • Scrolling text
  • A minimum of 8 paths (places for the audience to go)
  • Intentional plan of navigation ( linear or non-linear)

Build a conceptual foundation according to your interest in this project. You should consider composition, color, texture, line, focal point, movement, mood for your images, narration and interactivity. Keep in mind camera angle, perspective, transitions and navigation.  You are to create the viewer's experience. 

Part I:
Research and Define the Problem ( In your journal)
Find interesting examples of environments online. Use these examples to drive your idea. Make notes of particular image treatment and effects.

Part II: DUE 11-11

A) Written Discussion in your journal:

Answer the following questions:

  • What does your environment like? Be specific. Site examples if needed.

  • Who lives there? Why?

  • What is it about?

  • How big is the interface small, full screen?

  • Why would your audience want to interact within the interface?

  • Where are you going to get your imagery from?

B) Storyboard in your journals - clearly explaining each area

C) Flow chart of interactivity

D) Imagery for environment

E) Frame 1 of the interface

Part III: Flash Presentation
