Project #2 - Narrative links / CSS and text

Your task in this assignment is to create a series of 8 (or more) linked web pages using only text. Your task is to see how far you can extend both readability and layout using CSS, text, links, and color in html. You should consider the following aesthetic questions in your approach.

Select narrative text from the web. Write a description of the text you are going to use and what you conceptually intend to do with it. What is your piece about? Why did you select this particular text?

Answer the following:

  1. How can colors advance the message of my text?
  2. How can text placement create flow or disruption, mood?
  3. What effect does linking add to the pages?
  4. How many links can I put on a page?
  5. Can a link be invisible?
  6. How can keyboard symbols replace text?
  7. How is the size of the text related to its message?
  8. How can I use an outside link?
  9. How do all the html choices for the project as a whole enhance or disrupt the text ?
  10. How do you tell a story using only text?
  11. Do your choices, reflect the mood of your narrative?
  12. How can you design with type, using html and CSS?
  13. What are your constraints? How is it different then using Adobe Illustrator?

 

In your journal:

Find 10 interesting examples of typography. ( paste in your journal)

Create a 3 separate story boards of 10 frames that convey your design.
