Scenario: You are a graphic designer working in a Advertising Agency. The art director (me) has given you the task of re- designing the brand for an established client. The Kilmer Brasserie & Steakhouse (http://www.kilmerrestaurant.com/) wants to see 3 uniquely different concepts based on a the target audience. This project will include the re-design of the following:

  1. menu (4.5in x 11in)
  2. website ( all pages) printed comps 1024px x 768px at 72 dpi
  3. web banners (Vertical Tower 160px x 600px, Full Banner 468px x 60px, Square Button 125px x 125px)
  4. color newspaper ad (4.94in x 19.5in)
  5. b&w newspaper ad (4.875in x 9.875in)
  6. grande opening invite (4.25 x 5.5)
  7. Logo
  8. Stationary (8.5in x 11in)
  9. #10 Envelope (4.125 x 9.5) - no bleeds
  10. Business Card (3.5in x 2in)

Part 1: due Monday 4-26

  1. Define the target audience (journal)
  2. Define the client needs (journal)
  3. Research area and restaurant (journal)
  4. Complete Mind Map exercise (journal)
  5. Collect examples (journal)
  6. Develop Thumbnails (10) of all three concepts (8.5 x 11 to be stapled and handed in)
  7. Develop rough layout of all three concepts (8.5 x 11 to be stapled and handed in)

Part 2: 4-26

A professional presentation (printed and mounted) of 3 different concepts of the Logo, Menu cover, Stationary and Website splash page. This presentation serves as the starting off point and will decide the final design.

Part 3:

  1. Create Time Sheet
  2. Create Job Check List
  3. Produce the digital comp
  4. Create all native files (raster and vector images) using Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign
  5. Assemble all text using Adobe Illustrator
  6. Conform to standard prepress criteria for all file preparation and type formatting
  7. Make backup copies of all files after each work session
  8. Print a black and white laser proof and check for accuracy
  9. Have "DIGITAL COMP CRITIQUE / PEER REVIEW" of your grayscale digital comp
  10. Make appropriate revisions
  11. Print color comps and check for correctness
  12. "DIGITAL COLOR COMP" check color
  13. Make appropriate revisions
  14. Create a PDF version of the final design
  15. Copy all final documents to the server folder. Turn_In/Client_Final folder
  16. Make an appointment with your art director for sign off / approval
  17. Verify correct file preparation. Using the print preparation checklist
  18. Discuss file organization and naming conventions to turn files in on the server.
  19. Submit Time Sheet,All files to the server, Checklist and all work backed up on CD.
